I’m going to analyze these panels a little but because … I think that there’s something a little deeper to it.
So, leading up to this panel, the entire fight was pretty goofy and lighthearted (And totally ship-y because, seriously? Mashima didn’t have to make Happy squish Natsu’s face into her boobs—but he did). But in an instant, it goes dark.
Natsu’s stuck under a large pile of rocks, and Lucy is completely drained of Magic. Both of them are a little worse for the wear.
And Lucy’s about to get crushed.
We clearly see Natsu telling her to get away and save herself, and leave him to deal with it. But she won’t.
And though this is probably me just over analyzing things again, I find it significant. I think Natsu has a very bad issue with people leaving him because of Igneel. And though the situation is a bit more different, since she’d be saving herself and not just leaving him—It’s still important.
Lucy is refusing to leave him behind.
(I don’t even know how to get my message across, because I feel like I’m repeating myself).
You remember how Lucy would complain and back out whenever things got hard?
Well look at her now!
I’m just saying that, even if not at that exact moment, it was probably really important to Natsu that she hadn’t left him behind.
